884 CFS @ Gateway - The flows on the Gallatin have increased slightly, but the water is still running fairly clear. Nymphing is the most productive way to catch fish, but in the evenings fish have been rising to BWO and caddis dry flies. Stripping a black or olive streamer along the banks and through the deeper pools is worth a shot as well.
Recommended Flies:
Pat's Rubberleg Black #8
TB Split Case BWO #18
Parachute BWO #20
Elk Hair Caddis Olive #16
Sparkle Minnow Black #4

1520 CFS @ Ennis - The flows have dropped slightly and the gallatin is starting to clear up nicely. Nymphing is still the best option with Pat's rubberlegs, worms, caddis, and BWO nymphs. There are still some BWO's hatching and as the weather continues to warm we should be seeing more caddis popping off. Streamer fishing is worth a shot right now too. Try throwing a darker black or olive flashy streamer along the banks and through the deeper pools.
Recommended Flies:
Pat's Rubberleg Black #8

1000 CFS @ Gateway - The Gallatin River has risen quite a bit over the past few days with the warmer temps. It is pretty dirty at the moment but could come back into shape early next week with some cooler weather. Nymphing with bigger flies will be your best bet in the softer shallower water along the edges. It's possible we could see some Caddis later next week if things warm up.
Recommended Flies:
Mega Prince #8
Tung Jig Prince #14
SH Copper John #14
Sizzlin Hot Spot Squirrel #14
Rubberlegs #6
